Ready to Trade Basis on FarmLead?

With nearly all of the planting complete in North American, we’re excited to announce that some of the seeds we started sowing almost a year ago have finally emerged!

On behalf of the entire FarmLead team, I’m proud to announce the launch of FarmLead Basis Negotiation.

Farmers and verified grain buyers on the FarmLead Marketplace can now negotiate exclusively on basis contracts. This is a one-of-a-kind tool that raises the game in the North American grain trading business.

This new FarmLead feature will help buyers find tonnes even more easily for their programs and monthly needs. Meanwhile, this feature will continue to assist farmers in maximizing their grain marketing plan.

With the launch of this tool, FarmLead has cemented its position as North America’s Grain Marketplace. FarmLead is the only company that offers the ability to effectively trade basis without having to pick up a phone. Buyers and sellers can trade anytime, anywhere, and reach deals more efficiently than ever.

How does this new feature work?

If buyers want to, they can still list their bids as cash contracts, but they can post these bids using our “Futures + Basis” option. All a buyer has to do is enter their delivery period and basis for the contract month, as well as other relevant contract terms. From there, we’ll pipe in the futures price to ensure the real-time cash price is displayed for all other FarmLead users.

Buyers can also post basis-only bids. All they need to do is post their basis, and any farmer using FarmLead can view the offer and instantly negotiate different quantities on that basis or delivery period.

For farmers, we continue our commitment to offer you greater versatility in how to sell your grain in this competitive industry. We know cash markets can be difficult navigate. Nowadays, more and more growers are using basis as a mechanism to maximize their final cash price. This new basis tool on FarmLead provides greater flexibility for deal terms, more sale opportunities, and get you back to spending more time on more important things in your life on the farm.

If any of you have questions or concerns, you can call me or anyone else on our amazing customer support team (see numbers below – seriously my cell phone is below). We are here to help guide you through the FarmLead Marketplace and make your grain trading experience easier and more efficient. If you’d like to read up on it yourself, please visit our Basis FAQ page here.

FarmLead is proud to be the most innovative company in grain trade. Providing our new FarmLead Basis Negotiation tool to thousands of our users is just an affirmation of that maintaining that reputation.
